Local

The Partnership have produced guidance on Biodiversity and Local Development Frameworks in Hampshire. This will assist local authorities in their preparation of LDF's and Supplementary Planning Documents on Biodiversity, and inform all those concerned with biodiversity and development in Hampshire.

Conserving Nature for the Community. Hampshire County Council has published a corporate Biodiversity Action Plan. The Plan involves all departments of the County Council and includes planning, highways, land management, recreation, education and social care. The Plan is a key element of the County Council's programme for sustainable development.

East Hampshire Biodiversity Action Plan. East Hampshire District Council have published their Biodiversity Action Plan. The Plan emphasizes practical conservation and survey work that contributes to local conservation.

Basingstoke and Deane Landscape and Biodiversity Plan. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Cuncil has prepared a Landscape and Biodiversity Strategy.

Wild About Eastleigh Wild about Eastleigh - a biodiversity action plan for Eastleigh Borough was published by Eastleigh Borough Council in 2002. Action in the plan is focussed at the local level, concentrating on land in seven priority areas. Eastleigh report that 75% of actions for 2002-2004 have been initiated or completed.

SEEDA have produced a sustainability checklist for developments in the South East which provides a framework that can be adapted to the user's needs.

Increasing the Momentum: A Vision Statement for Biodiversity in Local Government 2004-2010 has been produced bu the Association of Local Government Ecologists (ALGE). Copies of the document can be obtained by contacting ALGE via their website.

The RSPB and a partnership of conservation organisations have published a report highlighting why biodiversity is essential to all our lives. The report 'Sustaining biodiversity - revitalising the Biodiversity Action Plan process', explains how Biodiversity Action Plans have been developed to sustain and enhance our natural heritage. It includes recommendations to Government, and others involved in shaping conservation policy, to help meet the target of halting biodiversity loss by 2010

A Global Strategy for Plant Conservation has been produced by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Report of the 2nd UK Biodiversity Partnership Conference (21-22 June 2004) held in Cardiff is available. More information on the 2005 UK Biodiversity Partnership Conference held in Bristol on 14-15 June can be found on the UK Biodiversity Action Plan website.

Environment in Your Pocket is a DEFRA publication intended to be an easily accessible, handily sized reference booklet which will be particularly useful for ministers and officials across Government, for students studying environmental topics and for members of the public with a general interest in environmental issues. It covers almost 60 key data series and focuses on providing trends over time, including performance against quantified targets and commitments set at the national and international level.
