Butterfly Conservation
- Butterfly Conservation in Hampshire manage Magdalen Hill Down and Yew Hill as downland nature reserves. They monitor butterflies and moths at a great number of sites in the county with the help of many volunteers. Butterfly Conservation have recently published 'Moths of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight' with support from Hampshire County Council
- Butterfly Conservation and others are currently producing an up to date list of national and county notable butterfly and moth species found in Hampshire. This will provide an excellent basis for assessing the importance of Lepidoptera throughout Hampshire and identifying additional Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation. It will also raise awareness and give many species and sites a better level of protection.
- Butterfly Conservation and many other organisations are together producing a proposal for integrated management of land in the Tytherley area of west Hampshire. The extensive woodlands of this area support a diverse array of notable Lepidoptera species, including the Pearl-bordered Fritillary.
- The Hants & Isle of Wight Branch of Butterfly Conservation produce an Annual Butterfly and Moth Report and an Annual Review of Priority Butterfly Species. The Review gives a full listing of all known sites for each priority butterfly species. Species coordinators and other recorders meet regularly to review issues and trends.
