Hampshire Amphibian and Reptile Group
- HARG has been working with the Hampshire Biodiversity Information Centre on the development of criteria for designation of Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation for amphibians and reptiles. The criteria will be used to identify new sites supporting substantial populations of amphibians and reptiles.
- HARG has correlated the Hampshire results of the national Great Crested Newt Appeal. In total, 74 sites have been identified in 60 grid squares. Identification will assist the protection of these sites in the planning process.
- HARG organises a full programme of events, many of which assist with the surveying of priority BAP reptiles and amphibians at nationally important wildlife sites such as Southampton Common, Emer Bog and Baddesley Common..
